What are the responsibilities and job description for the House Person- Housekeeping position at Trump International Hotel and Tower Chicago?
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas. Clean designated areas with proper chemicals, tools and equipment:- guest room floor corridors
- floor closets
- service corridors
- elevators, tracks and landings
- guest vending areas
- stairwells
- carpets
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended. Polish all woodwork.
- Remove all dust, debris and foreign particles from upholstered furniture, check under cushions. Dust pictures, frames, mirrors, fire extinguisher boxes, exit signs, air vents. Clean all lamps, light fixtures and light switches; check for proper working conditions. Remove dust, spots and smears from windows, frames and ledges; wash windows as assigned. Remove dust, grease and smears from house/public phones and reposition properly. Inspect condition of planters and plants; remove debris, polish planters. Remove dust, dirt, marks and fingerprints from doors and door frames. Remove stains, scuff marks, and dust from baseboards, ledges and corners. Polish all brass surfaces.
- Review assignment sheet and update completed assignments. Check with the Supervisor and Housekeeping office for additional assignments throughout the shift. Organize work duty priorities.
- Review the assigned area and complete general removal of any trash or debris on floors.
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards. Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day. Maintain positive guest relations at all times. Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately. Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Provide timely delivery of any items requested by guests. Retrieve items from guest rooms and return to proper storage areas. Transport guest laundry and dry cleaning to correct guest rooms. Handle guest requests for shoe shines as assigned; retrieve shoes from guest room, shine shoes and return to guest room. Report any damages or maintenance problems to the Supervisor. Turn over any lost and found items to the Supervisor. Ensure security of guest room access and hotel property.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
- Report all suspicious persons or activities, hazardous conditions, etc. to the Safety/Security Department.
- Provide general public assistance, instruction and/or guidance for guests and employee safety in the event of an emergency.
- Complete all other duties as assigned by supervisor to include cross training.
- Keep the work area neat and organized.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to understand normal conversation and accurately communicate information.
Ability to stand and walk on paved, unpaved, uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces for extended periods of time.
Must be able to climb stairs frequently.
Ability to remain balanced; Stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, twist, turn, and reach down, forward and overhead repetitively.
Must be able to use general cleaning supplies; Manual dexterity to grasp, lift, push, pull and use cleaning equipment and hand-held radio.
Must be able to push, pull, and control housekeeping cart and/or similar items on inclines and declines.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Must be able to operate a computer.
The worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions: Adverse conditions may include extreme heat and/or cold, wind, humidity and sometimes inclement weather.

Ability to arrive at work on time and when scheduled.
- Physically able to move large objects such as: carts, large bags of linen, ironing boards.
- Physically able to operate cleaning equipment such as: vacuum cleaners, brooms, spray bottles.
- Ability to learn, follow and practice standards for cleanliness.
- Ability to follow all safety procedures/standards and able to recognize and act in emergency situations.
- Ability to communicate effectively and pleasantly in English with guests and staff as necessary to effectively work within the department.
- Ability to grasp, lift, carry or otherwise move materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
Ability to move throughout, building, bend, stop and reach on a continuous basis up to an 8-hour shift.
