TruService is looking for a passionate individual to develop new business and promote our mission of helping those in our community achieve their financial goals. As the Business & Community Development Specialist, you are telling the TruService Credit Union story through multiple touchpoints.
Primary Function:
Develop new business for the credit union. Assist in the successful implementation of our community and business development initiatives including cultivating new, and maintain existing, relationships including new membership of individuals and businesses, existing members, vendor relations such as auto dealers, RV/boat and motorcycle dealers, realtors, community partnerships for financial literacy and education efforts.
The successful candidate will have a strong history of successful business development and community outreach, partnering with others to provide financial literacy and products/services tailored to the needs of our community.
Experience with a credit union/financial institution products and services and community development philosophy is required.
This position reports to the Community Development Coordinator.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop contact lists of potential new businesses, members, dealers, or brokers in the credit union’s field of membership.
2. Contact and visit prospective members, dealers, brokers, realtors, or other business partners to present information on available services, such as deposit accounts, lines-of-credit, cash management, electronic banking, lending products, business services, or investment services as appropriate.
3. Actively pursue new and existing partnerships with community stakeholders to develop and implement financial education programs.
4. Assist in positioning the credit union’s brand in the community, build general awareness and support the credit union's mission.
5. Attend and participate in various meetings in the community and/or at trade associations to develop new business prospects and promote the credit union.
6. Make presentations on financial services to groups to promote financial literacy and education within our community and the credit union products and services.
7. Conduct financial education training within our community to promote financial literacy and education.
8. Contact potential customer base in a variety of methods and follow-up methods: via telephone, site visits, letters, emails, and direct mail campaigns.
9. Maintain an up-to-date contact tracking tool.
10. Examine the methods that are successful in developing business.
11. Assess the products that best meet the needs within our credit union and community.
12. Work with the staff on ways to successfully promote all products and services with cross-selling to meet members’ or partners’ needs.
13. Support marketing initiatives and represent the organization at events.
14. Prepare and submit a monthly report on activity on a timely basis and other reports as directed by management to ensure goals are successfully met.
15. Other duties as assigned by management.
Required Knowledge
- Familiarity with FI’s products, services, policies, and procedures. Strong backgroud in Business Development and community outreach programs, Understanding of public relations and media processes. Understanding of teaching/training and development processes. Understanding of Credit Union philosophy. Background in financial literacy.
Experience Required
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Strong organizational abilities.
A minimum of 2 years in Business Development with a proven track record
Experience in Community Outreach programs and partnerships.
Experience in educational training.
One year of sales experience required.
One year of teaching experience strongly preferred.
A minimum of one year working in a Financial Institution Strongly Preferred.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
