Job Summary
The Part Time Associate General Counsel works closely with the General Counsel in Truth Initiative’s three-person legal office, also including a paralegal, to provide a wide range of legal services to the organization.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (*ESSENTIAL DUTIES):
This position is based in Washington, D.C. with a hybrid work schedule. This is a part-time position, ideally requiring four days per week. However, we may be open to accommodating a three-day work week.
Compensation Package
The salary range for this role is starting at $108,000-$116,000 on a national basis, based on a 4 day work week. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications for the role, relevant work experience, skillset, internal equity, location, and certifications, consistent with applicable law. Salary is just one part of our total rewards package which additionally includes equity, performance bonus for eligible roles, and competitive benefits.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (*ESSENTIAL DUTIES):
- Focus primarily on the organization’s contractual/transactional programs and its growing portfolio of EX Program subscription agreements and related contracts.*
- Address a variety of other legal issues as needed including review of public-facing organization communications, intellectual property, employment and employee benefits, compliance, regulatory, and litigation support and management.*
- Work with and manage outside counsel.*
- Support the General Counsel in: developing, implementing, and enforcing organizational policies, procedures, and trainings, as well as various legal, compliance and risk management issues, all as necessary.*
- Assist in the supervision of the paralegal.
- Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
- Must be a quick study and enjoy the challenge of learning and working in new areas of the law in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Must also have excellent judgment and the skills and interest to work well with both program staff and senior management.
- Experience with the operations of a 501(c)(3) organization, HIPAA, contracts and transactions (health care contracting experience strongly preferred), and commercial insurance are desirable.
- Ability to manage one or more other substantive legal areas for the organization (e.g., employment, intellectual property, fundraising). Specifics to align with candidate’s prior experience.
- Capacity to help manage organizational compliance while enabling business.
- The ideal candidate should have a Doctor of Jurisprudence from an accredited law school, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent communication skills; excellent computer skills; the ability to work independently and efficiently on concurrent projects.
- Bar admission must be in good standing.
