Summary of position:
We are looking for a sharp, ambitious, and enthusiastic Scheduling Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate is someone that is passionate about working in a care team model with a personal responsibility of providing care for our orthopaedics patients and clinical support to the team. The right candidate will be able to provide an exceptional patient care experience that promotes healing and recovery, and having an attention to detail mindset while being caring and compassionate.

What You'll Do:
- Screen patient calls efficiently ensuring accurate registration, appointment scheduling and follow-up appointment scheduling into database.
- Verify if patient is a current or former patient and reschedule with initial treating physician. Upon request, caller may be routed to initial treating physician team to initiate transfer of care.
- Transfer caller to Billing Department for patients with account balance prior to scheduling future appointments.
- Accurately data enter patient demographic information to include patient name, address, contact information, and insurance information.
- Respond to patients questions and needs by editing, canceling and re-scheduling appointments as necessary according to Company protocols.
- Regularly checks Outlook, Athena, NotifyMD and fax for pending messages and follow up on action items within same business day.
- Performs patient reminder calls for future appointment dates and documents accordingly.
- Document call summary in Athena/EMR system.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
What You'll Need:
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years progressive work experience in a medical setting. Knowledge of medical terminology and heath insurance. Knowledge of Athena EMR system is a plus. Proficient computer skills. Exceptional customer service skills. Proficient and accurate data entry skills. Proficient with Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize work and make sound judgements. Ability to remain patient during long periods of telephonic hold times..
- Prolonged sitting. Repetitive motion (data entry), and phone contact.
Other duties as assigned as necessary and may vary at times, as needed, by your immediate supervisor or as directed by the company.
