SolidWorks CAD Designer

We are looking for a high-performing SolidWorks CAD Designer to join a team of designers in creating touch screens, video walls, and protective overlay designs. This is a high-paced design team. The candidate should have experience in design for manufacturing and design for assembly of mechanical structures fabricated from sheet metal.

This is a full-time, on-site position reporting to the New Design Manager.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Produce full scope, detailed 3-D renderings based on client specification.
• Work closely with designers/engineers to ensure drawings reflect customer critical requirements.
• Prepare production information (i.e. Videos, that provide the necessary information for assembly instructions.)
• Prepare customer and end user documentation (i.e. Customer Drawing Estimates & Install Guides.)
• Provide detailed drawings for use in purchasing outsourced products.
• Maintain a library of standard designs, drawings and specifications.
• Work directly with production personnel on issues and manufacturing concerns, ensuring continuous product and process improvements.
• Incorporate post production updates of first article builds.
• Process Engineering Change Requests. (ECRs)
• Assess products and make appropriate changes to maximize Design-for-Manufacturability.
• Keeps up to date with the latest manufacturing techniques and drawing standards.
• Responsible for reporting the progress of all assigned tasks to the New Design Manager.

Qualifications:

Experience and Education Required/Desired:

• Associate’s degree or higher level of education in the relevant field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in design for fabrication and assembly of mechanical products.
• Experience with mechanical design of products made from sheet metal.

Skills Required

• Proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks Composer suite of programs.
• Good organizational skills, the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written skills and experience in problem solving in a team environment.
• Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Be a positive contributor to team participation.
