TSM - SHOP HELPER

Position: Shop Helper

Department: Shop Operations

Reports to: Shop Operations Manager

Pay: $18-22/hr

Job Objective: Assists other workers in all shop operations departments. Load and unload product and material from delivery trucks. Promotes and enhances TSM Metal Works mission to create a community of industry experts committed to supply chain solutions, quality products and superior customer satisfaction.

Will assists workers in various departments. Keeps general work areas clean. Work contributes to the success of the team goals.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assists other workers by performing any combination of the following tasks: Lifts, positions, and removes workpieces from machines to assist machine operators or fabrication personnel.
• Loads, stacks, and transports tools, work in process, or drops by hand or by lift.
• Cleans and scrapes metal in preparatory to fabricating or shipping.
• Picks up, sorts, and stacks or disposes of drop material from work areas.
• Stack, sort, organize and package finished product for shipping.
• Keeps general areas clean, including sweeping and sanitation duties.
• Adheres to the best practices to maintain a safe worksite and products
• Aids and assists other team members to complete the department’s and the company’s goals.
• Works the assigned schedule including any overtime and complies with the company's timekeeping policy.

• Speaks fluently, reads, comprehends in the English language.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and able to convert fractions to decimals and decimals into fractions.
• Ability to accurately use a variety of measuring tools such as a tape measure and calipers.
• Ability to learn and use all software and computing products assigned.
• Displays strong organization and time management skills.

Job Posting

TSM Metal Works is a growing sheet metal fabrication company on the Cumberland Plateau. We are looking for a Shop Helper who is eager and willing to learn. This is position and is a great transition into a career in the metal fabrication industry. Under direct supervision, a Shop Helper will aid throughout the shop in various departments. Working alongside experienced machine operators gaining knowledge and skills for opportunities to grow within the company.

Essential Duties:

• Clean and deburr parts that come off machines
• Load and Unload item from machines
• Mark and identify parts as they come off machines
• Sort, stack and package parts for movement around the shop and for shipping
• Load and unload trucks with forklifts
• Clean equipment
• Provide janitorial duties
• Additional duties and responsibilities may be required based upon business needs.

Qualifications

• Attendance, Shift Punctuality
• Basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) by hand or using a calculator
• Regularly lift 75lbs or more
• Operates equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, shrink wrap machines, banding machines, and overhead cranes
• Maintains facial grooming necessary to wearing respiratory protection
• Safety conscious attitude concerning all aspects of work: yourself, your equipment, and your surroundings
• Good housekeeping skills
• Fluent in written and spoken English

Day shift is Monday to Friday from 6:00am to 4:30pm. The typical week is scheduled for 50 hours.
