As the Senior Director of Tax – Payroll/Employer Tax, you will oversee a team of tax and audit professionals, ensuring precise management of employment tax liabilities with local, state, and federal agencies. You will manage the day-to-day operations of your team, provide performance feedback, and address any areas requiring improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of tax and audit associates, fostering a culture of performance and continuous improvement.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with taxing authorities, addressing tax liabilities, reporting, and audit issues.
- Oversee external audit interactions, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of required documentation.
- Manage tax compliance, unemployment claims expenses, and the related budget.
- Collaborate with finance executives to allocate employer tax costs and evaluate financial impacts of market changes.
- Develop and implement strategic objectives and performance management programs.
- Stay updated on tax legislation and market trends, communicating implications to leadership and stakeholders.
- Analyze and interpret new tax laws, advising leadership on potential impacts and necessary adjustments.
Qualifications:
- 8 years of relevant experience, including 3 years in a leadership role.
- Public accounting experience, with a focus on employer tax or audit.
- Proven experience in managing teams and developing leaders.
- Exceptional project management skills with a track record of managing multiple projects.
- Strong analytical, financial, and risk management capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills.
- Bachelor's degree required; a Master's degree or PMP certification is a plus.
