Job Description:The Electrical Lineworker Technology Instructor is responsible for performing all aspects of instruction for assigned program to include, but not limited to, implementing, revising, and evaluating assigned program area curriculum, utilizing all resources available to innovate and to change to meet evolving program and industry needs.
The Technical Instructor provides up-to-date skills training and instruction to meet the learning needs of students. Instructors provide hands-on technical training and mentoring in small classroom and lab settings. TSTC faculty deliver approved curriculum, content, and assessments in an applied learning environment. Responsibilities include facilitation of activities and discussions that engage a range of learning styles with targeted guidance and mentorship to students. Faculty will also interpret and administer assessments, and offer constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes. A key part of the role is to integrate technology effectively to enrich the educational experiences.Faculty act as ambassadors for their programs and TSTC.

Technical Instructors at TSTC benefit from a small class capacity, typically ranging between 15 -20 students, with an average of 15-20 per class. Courses are structured to include a brief lecture session followed by hands-on laboratory activities, maximizing engagement and practical learning. While on campus, instructors are expected to be available for tutoring, supplementing scheduled teaching requirements and student recruiting events. At TSTC, all technical courses incorporate in-person laboratory tasks. A typical day involves teaching one or two courses, with instructors potentially managing 3 to 4 courses depending on student enrollment. Occasionally, Technical Instructors may be tasked with additional courses, reflecting fluctuating enrollment demands. The standard workday spans from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Mon-Fri, with occasional evening or weekend commitments. Additionally, opportunities exist to provide extracurricular training for industry professionals.

Preferred Qualifications
10 years of verifiable work experience in Electrical Linework with 5 of those years working as a Journeyman
Journeyman Certification
OSHA Outreach Trainer Certification
Class A Commercial Driver's License (Unrestricted)
CPR/AED Certified
Previous training experience with Lineworkers
Required Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills
Associate degree in a closely related field and demonstrated qualifications in the technology's teaching discipline.* Exceptional cases of professional experience or credentialing in lieu of the above requirements may be considered on an individual basis by the Vice Chancellor who oversees academic programs, or his/her designee.
Verifiable work experience as an Electrical Lineworker.
Hold a class C driver's license.
Ability to explain and demonstrate knowledge of the following:
Safety and work procedures
Line associated protective equipment
Inspection and utilization of PPE
Utilization and maintenance of linework tools
Distribution and underground power utilities * Utility company operations
Identification of electrical systems
Nominal voltages, energized parts, and approach distances
Linework field techniques
Installation of poles, conductors, transformers, and other associated line equipment
Pole climbing
Basic transformer connections associated with single and three phase transformers
Verify customer service voltages
Read staking and framing specifications
UG switching and grounding
Transmission structures
Rig and hoist line equipment
Tailboard meetings

PROGRAM RECRUITMENT & PROMOTION:

Perform student advisement such that students are provided with timely, accurate, and comprehensive information.
Collaborate with the Office of Student Success to ensure students receive current information on tutoring and other programs designed to increase retention.
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT:
Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, equipment security where applicable, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation.
