Job Summary :

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Shop Supervisor to oversee the operations of our shop. The Shop Supervisor will be responsible for managing all aspects of the shop, including inventory management, equipment maintenance, and personnel supervision. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and organizational skills to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the shop.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

As the Shop Supervisor, you will lead and supervise a team of mechanics, laborers, and support staff. Your responsibilities include assigning tasks, providing guidance, monitoring performance, and ensuring that all team members adhere to safety regulations and quality standards. You will also be responsible for conducting performance evaluations, providing feedback, and facilitating training and development opportunities for your team.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Manage day-to-day operations of the shop, including scheduling, workflow coordination, and resource allocation.

Ensure that all equipment and tools are properly maintained and serviced to support shop operations.

Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure parts, materials, and supplies for shop activities.

  • Oversee inventory management, including tracking stock levels, conducting inventory audits, and reordering as needed.
  • Oversee, maintain, keep record, and order all parts, tools and materials needed for the shop.

Supervise and coordinate maintenance and repair activities, ensuring timely completion and quality workmanship.

Conduct regular inspections of shop facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.

Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

Communicate effectively with internal departments, customers, and vendors to address shop-related issues and coordinate activities.

Prepare and maintain records, reports, and documentation related to shop operations, including work orders, maintenance logs, and safety records.

Provide leadership and guidance to shop personnel, fostering a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Required Skills / Abilities :

Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of mechanics and technicians.

Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Comprehensive knowledge of shop operations, including equipment maintenance, repair procedures, and inventory management.

Proficiency in safety regulations and procedures related to shop activities, including equipment operation, maintenance, and repair.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members, customers, and vendors.

Problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to analyze issues and develop effective solutions.

Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems.

Education Requirements :

Basic : High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred : Associate's degree or technical certification in mechanical engineering, automotive technology, or a related field.

Preferred : Relevant experience in shop management or equipment maintenance.

Physical Requirements :

The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job (but are not limited to). The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods of time, unassisted. The incumbent must wear a respirator when required. Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to operate industrial machinery is required. This job also requires full range of body motion to include handling and lifting. The incumbent must repeatedly lift and / or move up to 65 (SIXTY-FIVE) pounds unassisted. Visual acuity, hearing, speaking, reading, and writing must be adequate to perform all required tasks in a safe manner.

Work Environment :

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Work is usually done outdoors and sometimes at a client facility or job site and is frequently performed in inclement and / or extreme weather conditions. The incumbent is exposed to electricity, moving mechanical parts, vehicles, equipment, and hazardous materials. This position regularly requires long work hours and frequent weekend work.
