At Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD), we provide high-quality park and recreation facilities, programs, services, and natural areas that meet the needs of the diverse community we serve. The Tualatin Hills Athletic Center is currently hiring for Gym Monitors and Complex Monitors to maintain a positive atmosphere, promote court etiquette, manage equipment, and ensure site safety. We are seeking enthusiastic, proactive, inclusive individuals with strong communication and customer service skills.
The district also provides a bilingual pay incentive to staff who regularly use their bilingual or multilingual skills!
Estimated Schedule:
The Gym/Complex Monitor is typically scheduled between 3 – 20 hours per week. Depending on programming needs, there may be opportunities to work additional hours. Hours and location may vary and include evenings and weekends to meet programming needs.
Job Classification Status: Part-Time Variable (PT)THPRD is hiring for multiple positions, hours may vary and are based on program need. Part-time variable (PT) employees work an average of less than 20 hours per week and may work less than 1,560 hours on an annual basis. The Gym Monitor supervises play, enforces rules and court etiquette, promotes sportsmanship, and manages equipment.
- This job is primarily performed in an inside environment and requires standing and walking for long periods.
- The incumbent is typically exposed to noises and interruptions, such as bouncing balls, sudden loud noises, multiple voices, and yelling in a crowded environment.
- Greet the public and provide information and assistance regarding schedules, registration, program descriptions, and other general information over the phone and in person.
- The flow of work and character of duties involve typical mental and visual attention much or all the time.
- Manual dexterity and coordination are required, making up more than 50% of the work period.
- Physical exertion may be lifting sporting equipment (volleyball nets, table tennis tables, etc.) and items weighing less than 40 pounds.
- Light custodial duties required.
The Complex Monitor supervises THPRD sports complexes, checks user permits, and maintains site safety and cleanliness.
- This job is primarily performed outside, including excessive temperatures and inclement weather.
- This job assignment can be at an outdoor complex or BSD school gymnasium.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods.
- The incumbent is typically exposed to noises and interruptions, such as bouncing balls, sudden loud noises, multiple voices, and yelling in a crowded environment.
- Physical exertion may be lifting sporting equipment weighing less than 40 pounds.
- Light custodial duties required.
- Maintain current First Aid and CPR Certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Staff are forbidden to participate in drop-in programs while on duty.
- Must successfully complete District safety training before beginning position duties.
