What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sports Instructor position at Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District?
Join Cedar Hills Recreation Center as a Youth Sports Instructor! We are seeking enthusiastic and energetic instructors to lead our preschool and school-age sport classes, which focus on introducing children to a variety of sports in a fun and engaging way. Instructors will be responsible for teaching preschool and elementary-level students the fundamentals of multiple sports, which may include introductions to basketball, soccer, floor hockey, pickleball, tennis, flag football, lacrosse, t-ball, and more.
Our goal is to foster teamwork, coordination, and a love for physical activity in a supportive, inclusive environment. Candidates should have a passion for working with children and experience in participating, coaching or teaching different sports. While expertise in a particular sport is welcome, the ideal candidates will be able to apply their coaching skills to the wide variety of entry-level sport classes we offer.
Hours and Scheduling:
The schedule for this position is Saturdays from 8:00am - 12:30pm. Additional days and hours may be available depending on programming needs and availability.
Classification Status:
THPRD is hiring for multiple positions, hours may vary and are based on program need. Part-time variable (PT) employees work an average of less than 20 hours per week and may work less than 1,560 hours on an annual basis. This position may be eligible for multiple positions within the same classification that have the same job duties and qualifications. Any changes between part-time, year-round and part-time, seasonal positions require a 13-week break in service.
Available Positions:
Instructor I: No teaching experience required, must love working with people of all ages and abilities; be able to work inside and outside; and be at least 16 years of age.
Pay Rate Range: $17.90 - $19.00 Hourly.
Instructor II: Must have at least 1 year of experience in specialty area and be at least 16 years of age.
Pay Rate Range: $19.51 - $21.98 Hourly.
