Tubular Steel (a member of the Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. family of companies) is currently recruiting for a Saw Operator / Fabricator at our plant in St. Louis, MO.
Available Shifts are 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM or 2:15 PM - 10:45 PM
Approximately 30 minute drive from Wentzville, MO, Chesterfield, MO Alton, IL, Granite City, IL, Glen Carbon, IL, Fenton, MO, Arnold, MO
These key positions are ground level opportunities requiring no former experience in the steel industry. As a bending fabricator and steel tubing resource, we pride ourselves in acquiring individuals with no prior related work experience but hold a proven track record of employment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate steel cutting saws to meet customer specifications;
- Operate saws in a safe manner according to the Health & Safety Program;
- Inspect parts to customer prints and QA sheets;
- Set-up saws and change blades/tooling for consistent cutting;
- Operate saws in an efficient and productive manner;
- Wear steel toe boots and hearing protection while working.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read prints and a tape measure.
- Good math skills. Convert units of measure (EX: Feet to inches or Metric to English). Some geometry involved.
- Good manual dexterity to make fine mechanical adjustments;
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
- Able to walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Able to bend and rotate at the waist many times per hour
- Can climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach with hands and arms
- Possess good manual dexterity and balance
- Wear eye protection, steel toe boots, hard hat, ear protection, and gloves while working.
