Summary:
A primary function of this and every other job at the “J” is to ensure by whatever rational and legal means necessary that each member, guest and visitor leaves the “J” feeling just a little better than when they arrived.
This is a great role for someone that wants to bring their kid(s) with them to one of the premier preschools in town with them every day.
This is an ideal role for someone that wants to grow from an Accounting Manager to a Controller, and as beyond as you desire.
Under the general supervision and direction of the Tucson J CFO, the Accounting Manager provides high level accounting support and reporting to additional members of the accounting and J teams as requested. The Accounting Manager serves as a liaison for the CFO and other functions within the JCC.
Position Responsibilities:
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
- Assist and train employees in the Accounting Department
- Preparation and maintenance of accounting records including general ledger, financial statements, payroll, accounts payable, membership records, program records, tax returns, billings, and collections with the assistance of the accounting office and membership staff
- Monitoring, analyzing, and forecasting weekly, monthly, and annual cash flow
- Reviewing monthly budget to actual variances, and investigating/resolving significant budget variances
- Reviewing balance sheet account reconciliations and journal entries prepared by Accountant
- Reviewing Coding of fundraising campaigns, program set ups other Daxko operation coding
- Assisting in the annual independent financial statement and 401k plan audits, preparing and providing schedules and information as required
- Assisting in developing, instituting, and/or documenting procedures systems to insure sound financial management and good internal controls in accordance with GAAP
- Oversee 2025 Maccabi Games Accounting and Reporting
- Assist in reporting on capital projects
- Working with grant writer and providing financial information for grant applications
- Overseeing billings and filing requirements with state and federal agencies
- Preparing documents for annual commercial insurance renewal and workers comp audit
- Serving as a key member of the Tzevet team and interrelating with all staff in a cooperative and productive fashion
- Meeting and speaking with members regarding their accounts and records with the JCC, resolving any problems as appropriate
- Distribute/mail 401K Summary Annual Report and Summary Plan Description
- Assistance with software upgrades and automation
- Special projects
- Rotate above tasks
- Take Bank Deposits to bank as needed
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years previous experience with not-for-profit experience preferred; 4 years over all experience required
- Degree in accounting or related field
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting
- Proficient skills with accounting/donor database software and Microsoft Office
- The ability to have fun and enjoy yourself, your work, your human contacts, and your environment
