Direct Support Professional – Tucson JCC’s Summer Camp Day Program
PT/FT: Full-time
Hours: 8:30am-4pm M-F; Dates of Employment: May 27th - July 25th.
Program: Summer Camp, Tucson JCC Main Campus at 3800 E River Rd, Tucson, AZ 85718
DESCRIPTION:
The J’s Summer Camp Day Program provides a small supportive group of middle and high school aged children with disabilities full-day summer camp programming. These programs are designed to explore, cultivate, and maximize each individual’s potential.
Direct Support Professionals (DSP) oversee the participants’ health and well-being. While accommodating a wide variety of interests and skill levels, our programming will challenge our participants to improve their character and achieve personal goals. We emphasize wellness, team building, skill development, social interaction, having fun at summer camp.
Direct Support Professionals (DSP) are responsible for assisting and supporting participants with disabilities while they follow their summer camp program schedule. DSPs ensure that all participants are fully included in activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all tasks to develop and implement opportunities for each participant to achieve their Person-Centered Service Plan goals
- Work to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all summer camp participants
- Maintain positive communication with parents and other professionals, both internal to the JCC and outside organizations
- Strong creativity and the ability to have fun, enjoy yourself, your work, and your environment
- Develop program aids, adaptations, and some lesson plans
- Work as part of a collaborative team
- Administer medication
- Attend staff meetings and trainings
- Assist to ensure that all contract and license requirements are being met including writing objectives, teaching and behavior plans, data collection, reporting, and lesson plans
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Other responsibilities as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to fulfill physical duties of job including:
- Lifting and/or assistance with transfers (a minimum of 50lbs)
- Attending to personal care issues such as feeding, refreshing, and medication
- Fitness activities (i.e., participation in yoga, swimming, group sports, and fitness
- Flexibility: the ability to change assignments with little or no notice
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Driver’s License Required
- Class one fingerprint certification (can be obtained after hire)
- First Aid & CPR certification (can be obtained after hire)
- Article 9 training (can be obtained after hire)
- Any additional certifications a plus (i.e. prevention and support, certified caregiver training, etc.).
Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour
Summer position includes JCC membership.
