What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jr ROTC Officer (Effective 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR) position at Tucson Unified School District?
SUMMARY
The JROTC (Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps) Army Instructor (AI) will assist the Senior Army Instructor (SAI) as the institutional leader in managing and conducting the JROTC program in accordance with United States Army Cadet Command (USACC) regulatory guidelines and school district rules, regulations, and policies. Assists the SAI to accomplish the instructional, operations, and administrative mission of the JROTC program. Responsible for providing classroom instruction to cadets as established within the curriculum’s program of instruction (POI) as provided by USACC and school district guidelines and policies. Adheres to APS JROTC established operating procedures relating to administration, control, and training of cadets. Assists in establishing and maintaining viable extra-curricular activities such as Color Guards, Drill Teams, Raider Teams, Rifle Teams, Orienteering Teams and Academic Teams.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Arizona Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, 9-12 Certificate
Arizona CTE Industrial & Emerging Technologies K-12 Certificate
Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Must be retired from military service
Must be pre-screened and certified by US Army Cadet Command prior to applying for this position.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization

FTE: 1.0 – 8 hours per day
Work Calendar: 9.5 month
Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
