What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Assistant (Effective 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR) position at Tucson Unified School District?
SUMMARY
Responsible for the overall management of a Library by ensuring appropriate library materials are available to students and staff. Communicates verbally, in writing and on the computer. May or may not collaborate with on-site Library Media Specialist.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or G.E.D. AND
Completion of an AZ Dept. of Education-approved Academic Assessment Test.
OR
Associate’s Degree (or higher degree)
OR
Two-years (60 Semester-Hour credits) of study at an institute of higher learning
Two years of general office and/or library work experience.
Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
FBI fingerprint background check.
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

Location: Gale Elementary School - Broadway & Camino Seco Area
Classification: White Collar
FTE: .5 – 4 hours per day
Work Calendar: 9.5 month
Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
