This now adds further support, evidence- based services, and care to the community's public health crisis. JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM/Peer Support Specialist (PSS) will support individuals who have chosen to receive deflection/sobriety services or have a desire to participate in recovery services. The CRM/PSS will work within and around a center supporting individuals through the full continuum of services at the center. CRM/PSS will meet each new resident at intake into the center and support the individual in feeling welcome, answer their questions, provide compassionate support, and guide throughout the facility process. They will provide ongoing support to ensure that the individuals are achieving their self-determined goals identified in their care plan. The CRM/PSS will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator for recovering individuals entering the center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor the front entrance for visitors. Manage and greet visitors e.g. consumers, partners, law enforcement, clients, and others that enter reception area in a polite and respectful manner. Provide instructions and/or direct visitors/consumers/clients to the perspective waiting destinations.
- Educate clients on eligibility criteria and completion criteria
- Serving as a key support for individuals who have opted in to deflection/sobriety, starting at intake to ensure a warm hand off from law enforcement to the deflection/sobriety center for at least 30 days.
- Interact and monitor the client during the wait time and assist the client as necessary promoting safe and comfortable environment for client.
- Provide peer support to help the individuals have their voices fully heard and their needs, goals and objectives established as the focal point.
- Support individuals to identify their area of need for professional support and services and communicate those needs to clinical staff.
- Transporting individuals to the appropriate referral source or safe environment if needed.
- Coach individuals on independent use of community resources.
- Completes documentation, reports and captures data in accordance with the Stabilization Center processes.
- Refers individuals to appropriate services in the community as necessary and documents referrals and outcomes.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Valid driver's license required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Connecticut Community Recovery (CCAR) Training Required (must be able to obtain within three to six months of employment) OR Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Peer Support Specialist (PSS) certification OR MHACBO Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) certification is required but may be applied for within 1 month of hire
- BLS Certification (Required or the ability to obtain within the first 90 days of employment).
- Familiar with de-escalation skills
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated ability to use the entire MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel). Ability to learn in-house software.
- Personal belief in recovery and the recovery process.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, clients, and the public.
- High energy, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team.
- Ability to engage clients flexibly based on their individual needs.
- Respect for and maintenance of professional boundaries with all individuals.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Proficiency in reading, understanding, and speaking English.
Background: This position requires successful background and drug test completion
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Prolonged periods of standing and bending.
