DEPARTMENT: TPD- Fish and Wildlife
JOB SUMMARY: The Fish & Wildlife Lieutenant is a Certified Tribal, State, and Federal Law Enforcement Officer. Who will exhibit professional leadership skills and abilities necessary for success in investigation operations, management, and investigative protocols.
The Lieutenant will supervise the Fish & Wildlife Officers, oversee and perform patrols of all Usual and Accustomed Fishing areas of The Tulalip Tribes. Enforce any and all pertinent codes, Tribal, State and Federal Laws along with patrolling all Game Management areas of The Tulalip Tribes. Patrol the exterior boundaries of the Tulalip Reservation, prevent crime, and enforce Tribal, State, and Federal Laws. Make arrests, investigate reports, and serve search warrants, criminal summons, traffic citations, and required legal reports. Take statements and conduct interviews with witnesses, suspects, and defendants. Participate in community service-crime prevention and youth programs. Provides support and backup to County, City, State, and Tribal Officers as well as Tribal Gaming Agents and other Tribal Programs.

COMPENSATION: $DOE
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must successfully passed and completed a basic law enforcement academy recognized by the Department.
- Must have Washington State Peace Officers certification.
MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE
- Ten (10) years of experience in law enforcement.
- Five (5) years of supervisory experience.
- Three (3) years of experience working in Fish and Wildlife enforcement.
- Three (3) years of computer experience utilizing Microsoft Office programs and the use of standard office equipment.
- Experience with public speaking to large groups, communities, and public figures.
- Experience working in Tribal Government, providing customer service, security and problem-solving preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES
- Must be a United States Citizen or an enrolled member of a Federally Recognized Tribe.
- WA State Driver’s License.
- Must adhere to the Motor Vehicle Regulations. (Abstract Required)
- CPR/First Aide Certificate. *Will allow six (6) months to obtain.
- Complete the Tulalip
- Never been arrested or convicted of any crime of violence; which any disposition exists except not guilty.
- Never been convicted of any felony crime or been convicted of domestic violence.
- Must have no restrictions on the ability to carry or use a firearm; such as being named as a respondent on a protection order, restraining order, or anti-harassment order.
- Must disclose all traffic infractions and vehicle collisions.
- Must disclose any use, possession, or sale of any illegal drugs during your lifetime.
- Credit history will be assessed by TPD and any related decision-making issues may be grounds for disqualification; areas of concern are failure to pay income tax and child support.
- Must pass all TPD Police Background Investigation, Polygraph, Psychological, and Medical examinations.
- Employment is contingent upon successful passing the Tulalip Police Department Background check.
