Job Overview
With broad oversight, the Program Manager manages creation and scheduling for Division animal care and research work, ensuring each project or animal work is up to standard and meets its goals and objectives. This position requires a high level of service and covers a variety of responsibilities in the areas of data management, organization, communication problem solving and data entry. Serves as primary registrar of animal records data at the Tulane National Primate Research Center (TNPRC), regularly entering animal information and project work schedule into the TNPRC animal records database. Prepares and distributes weekly and daily schedules to the Division of Veterinary Medicine faculty and staff. Maintains electronic documentation associated with animal records on TNPRC Dellserver-including daily e-filing and document organization. Communicates with internal and external collaborators to process, investigate, and interpret animal work and research projects into animal records database to produce weekly and daily schedules.
Duties
- Primarily responsible for Center animal records management and communication. Maintains and organizes individual records of all species at Center in the animal records system and on the internal server. Day to day entry, tracking and communication of movement results for Center animals. Prepares and distributes daily/weekly building door sheets and weekly generation of area inventory sheets.
- Disseminates weekly and daily schedules for research, including surgery and project work in research buildings. Daily and weekly generation and distribution of schedules to designated faculty and staff that includes planned project work and treatments for the day or week. Collaborates regularly with both core and affiliate institutions on schedule requests for projects and animal work.
- Conducts daily data quality assurance, reviewing data entered for all Records staff. Solves problems/issues with schedule work and movements using collaboration with faculty and staff. Provides data entry and data investigative support of animal records data for external and internal Divisions. Works with TNPRC Information Technology (IT) Division to improve/streamline LabKey database as a primary end user. Liaisons with Center faculty, staff, Divisions, and InformationTechnology (IT), to trouble shoot and investigate scheduling issues in the Center’s animal records database.
- Cross-trains with other support staff to assist as needed. Provides back up administrative support for animal project transfers, serving as back up for animal transfers out of the Center and entry of animal births and deaths. Provides administrative support when other Records personnel are absent.
Experience
-Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
-Proven ability to organize and maintain large amounts of data, translating data to information relevant for successful project work and exemplary animal care
-Experience resolving complex issues, proposing and implementing solutions
-General knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and operation of computer systems
-Ability to understand and use database programs
-Proven ability to perform data assessment reporting and provide accurate data entry
