The Public Health Program Outreach and Education Coordinator will support the Bureau of Epidemiology and will communicate and collaborate with various team members. This position will work on the Vectorborne disease team in the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Division. This position will support clinical and epidemiology staff in the development of state-wide projects related to tick and mosquito borne diseases. Duties of this position will include:

The Public Health Program Outreach and Education Coordinator will support the Bureau of Epidemiology and will communicate and collaborate with various team members. This position will work on the Vectorborne disease team in the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Division. This position will support clinical and epidemiology staff in the development of state-wide projects related to tick and mosquito borne diseases. Duties of this position will include:
- Evaluate, design, present, recommend, and disseminate culturally appropriate health education information and materials.
- Prepare and distribute health education materials, including reports, bulletins, and visual aids such as films, videotapes, photographs, and posters.
- Provide guidance to agencies and organizations in the assessment of health education needs, and in the development and delivery of health education programs.\
- Assist in making and giving presentations for public health and healthcare partners
- Assist in gathering details and developing tools, trainings and/or educational messages for specific audiences
- Develop surveys to assess knowledge of audiences to guide development of education materials.
- Interpret survey results to characterize literacy levels and knowledge gaps among public health and healthcare partners
- Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with agencies and organizations interested in public health care.
- Develop and maintain lists of contacts for public health and healthcare partners
- Document activities, recording information such as the numbers of applications completed, presentations conducted, and persons assisted.
- Maintain databases, mailing lists, telephone networks, and other information to facilitate the functioning of health education programs.
- Provide updates to supervisor about the progression of the projects.
- Travel within Pennsylvania is expected.
- The DOH reserves the right to reject or remove any unqualified contract staff if they cannot perform their duties at an acceptable level. The supplier is expected to replace the contract staff ASAP depending on the needs of DOH.
- ID must always be worn and must be clearly visible and readable (other than teleworking). The Public Health Program Outreach and Education Coordinator shall dress in a manner that conveys professionalism; typically, in a “business casual” style when appearing online or in person.
