Role Description
This position is in the Critical Incident Management Unit, Division of Participant Supports, Bureau of Coordinated and Integrated Services within the Office of Long-Term Living (OLTL). The incumbent is assigned to a team tasked (1) to ensure that quality, effective, and efficient Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) (Community Health Choices waiver -CHC- and Fee for Service -FFS- programs) are provided to participants in their communities; (2) to ensure that events that resulted in risk to the participants health, safety, and welfare are reported and investigated according to agency policies and procedures; (3) to ensure all Unit activities are aligned with the Money Follows the Person’s (MFP) initiatives.
The incumbent will be responsible for the oversight of all activities related to the Incident Management Mortality Review/Quality Management Team, which will initially consist of two (2) Risk Management Specialists and two (2) Review and Evaluation Nurses (Registered Nurses).
The Mortality Review/Quality Management Team is responsible for coordinating incident management quality assurance activities and health, safety, and welfare protections, including mortality reviews, for Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) program participants within the Department of Human Services, Office of Long-Term Living (OLTL), Critical Incident Management Unit.
Description Of Duties
Understand the functionality and intricate details of the Enterprise Incident Management (EIM) system and the incident reports in order to monitor and address all activities related to mortality reviews and quality management.
Participate in analysis of Quality Management Program reports with recommendations for corrective actions. Perform quality management reviews, coordinate, and manage other staff in doing audits and other quality reviews.
Provide leadership and in-service training for clinical and non-clinical staff relating to Quality Management, audit methodologies, and related plans of correction. Serve as liaison and coordinator with physicians and nurses to implement/support all quality management activities of the Critical Incident Management Unit.
Coordinate, develop, and conduct training for protective service agency, MCOs, SCEs, and other Provider staff related to the programs administered by the OLTL as well as Incident Management.
Oversee staff participation in information system technology requirement and design sessions and user acceptance testing of IT applications.
Assist in the assurance of unit activities’ alignment with Money Follows the Person’s (MFP) initiatives and in developing reports as evidence of grant sustainability to enable continuation of funding.
Maintain and upgrade skills by attending meetings, training sessions, and seminars and by reviewing current literature.
Participate in meetings and committee assignments as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
