Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the crew while clearing and trimming trees and brush
- Operate a bucket to remove branches and tree material
- Clean up and dispose of all debris
- Operate and service equipment, such as gasoline, hydraulic tools, power saws, power winches, bucket, chipper, and sprayers
- Use hand-tools, such as axes, hand-lines, saws, block and tackle, pruners, etc.
- Obtain written or oral permission from property owners to trim or remove trees or perform other work on property
- Promote and maintain good customer and public relations through effective accomplishment of assigned work and appropriate behavior of employees on the crew
- Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area
- Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc., to protect employees and the public
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Working knowledge and ability to identify tree and shrub species
- Ability to perform physical labor requiring continual and repetitive use of gross motor skills to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, crawl, crouch, drag, push, pull, twist, turn, stretch, reach, and continual and repetitive use of fine motor skills and manual dexterity
- Ability to communicate well with supervisors and co-workers
- Ability to handle various tools and heavy equipment
- Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protection against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals, etc.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Valid Driver’s license, CDL preferred but not required, and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
Hours of Employment
Daily hours are from Monday through Thursday, 6:30 am to 5 pm. Working hours lost due to weather conditions may be made up on Friday.
