Custodian - Job Posting

Turlock Christian School is ACSI & WASC accredited and serves the greater Turlock Community with students in preschool through high school, totaling 670 students. TCS is a growing school and has a proven track record of producing highly qualified graduates, fully prepared for college. TCS was recently voted best Christian school and best preschool in the county. We are building a new elementary facility with 1:1 devices for students that will open this next year. This position will work at this new campus.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Turlock Christian Schools in Turlock, California is seeking an experienced, Janitor who is committed to achieving excellence throughout our school. To be eligible for this position, applicants must possess the following:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, such as GED;
• 3 years or more of janitorial and maintenance experience;
• Possess a positive attitude, be patient, motivated, self-directed, adaptable, and focused;
• The physical ability to fulfill the job requirements including physical strength, agility, endurance, dexterity, hand-eye-foot coordination. Work requires sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, lifting, crawling, bending, climbing stairs and ladders. May be called after working hours to respond to emergency maintenance and repair needs.

PRIMARY DUTIES, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

• Oversee the cleaning, repair and maintenance of the entire Preschool campus.
• Performs routine janitorial functions at assigned site(s)/facility.
• Cleans classrooms, restrooms, offices, and related facilities.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, and polish concrete, linoleum, tile and wood floor, door panel, and hand railing and incidental painting when needed.
• Vacuum rugs and carpets. Dust furniture, empty and clean trash receptacle.
• Clean wall, furniture, window, woodwork, chalk board, desktop, and counter.
• Clean floors and windows glass and drinking fountains.
• Checks toilet paper and soap dispensers.
• Replaces light globes. Pick up papers and debris; clean walkways and entrances.
• Operates cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor cleaning and polishing machines, scrubbers, etc.

Assist in set up and take down of buildings, rooms, and grounds for meetings and special events upon request to include arranging chairs, desks, equipment, etc.

• Observe/report the need for maintenance repairs and safety/sanitary hazards to appropriate authority.
• Respond to emergency cleanups such as spills and clogged drains.
• Perform other duties similar to the above in scope and function as required.
