Help adolescents recover from mental health and substance use challenges at a 12-bed residential treatment center for 14- to 17-year-old boys on a beautiful 100-acre horse farm in Killingworth, Connecticut. The Killingworth team includes psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, wellness coordinators, academic advisors, operations staff, kitchen staff, and more.
Turnbridge is hiring a Clinician for this program, where your skills and care transform young people’s lives. The ideal candidate in an expert at providing highly individualized help and counseling for clients who may be experiencing a crisis. These professionals are trained in mental health first-aid and can help clients regain their sense of comfort, safety, and direction if needed.
This role is ideal for LMSW, LPC-A, LMFT-A, LCSW, LPC, and LMFT applicants.
The schedule for this specific clinician job is Sunday to Thursday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Additionally, an on-call rotation exists among several clinical team members. More information will be shared in the interview process.
Job Description:
We are looking for a clinician who works closely with our clients and families, engages in a variety of interventions with them, and supports the team approach to treatment in Killingworth.
- Engages in one-to-one client support during times of stress or escalation
- Leads daily group therapy
- Engages new admissions in a biopsychosocial assessment and initial treatment planning
- Updates families on various matters; provides coverage for individual and family therapy when a clinician is sick or on vacation, in addition to completing clients' concurrent reviews for a clinician who's out
- Works alongside a team of providers, sharing observations and guidance on clients and their families
- Working closely with the Care Team Director to identify clients in need of support or current community challenges
- Participating in individual and group activities with clients to build rapport
- Creating activities and opportunities for clients to connect as a community
- Supporting clients and utilizing de-escalation strategies during times of distress
- Leading peer mediations between clients in conflict
- Provide direct therapeutic services
A typical day could include:
- Checking in with clients throughout the week to support their treatment journey and provide insight on client needs to the rest of the care team
- Helping clients talk through stressors
- Calls to families to share about our work with the teen and provide parent coaching where appropriate
- Helping new clients feel more comfortable
- Engaging in client-to-client mediations to help peers build relationship
- Documenting client support and interventions for data collection
