Turner Industries Group is looking for an experienced Abator for a Maintenance position in Freeport, TX.
Removes asbestos contraining materials (ACM) from, but not limited to, boilers, pipes, tanks, vessels,
exchangers, columns, floor tiles and proofing; Must have completed a certified asbestos removal
class and have current certificate and a current state card from the division of air quality.
Functional Requirements
Removes asbestos from ceilings, walls, beams, boilers, and other structures, following company
operating proceedures; Assembles scaffolding and seals off work area; Positions mobile
decontamination unit or portable showers at entrance of work area; Positions portable air
evacuation and filtration system inside work area; Sprays chemical solution over asbestos covered
surfaces, using tank with attached hose and nozzle, to soften asbestos; Cuts and scrapes asbestos
from surfaces, using knife and scraper; Shovels asbestos into disposal container; Cleans work area of
loose asbestos, using vacuum, broom, and dust pan and into disposal bags and seals bags, using duct
tape; Dismantles scaffolding and temporary walkway, using handtools, and places plastic sheeting
and disposal bags into transport bags.

Employee may be required to provide the following: tool box, tube cutters, hacksaw frame, channel
lcoks, vise grips, center punch, screw driver, combination square, tape, adjustable wrench, allen
wrench set, combination wrenches, nut driver, folding rule, torbedo level, pipe wrenches, tubing
benders, rain suit.
Physical Involvement
Employee may be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and
below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds structures, etc.; reaching in all
directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes,
