Mechanic Supervisor - Houston, TX

Responsibilities

Turner Industries Group is looking for an experienced Mechanic Supervisor for the Houston, TX area. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing work in the Houston Yard as well as coordinating the mobile mechanics that visit jobsites to repair equipment. They will have a background working as a mechanic on large diesel engines - Cat, Cummins, Detroit - and experience diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems on heavy equipment such as cranes and dirt moving machinery, and dump beds. In addition, they will have a track record of increasing supervisory responsibility over mechanics doing the same work. This is a long-term position based at our campus in Houston with:

• 40 Hours
• Overtime and call-outs as needed - overtime paid at time-and-a-half

• Tadano, Grove, or Liebherr certification preferred
• Per diem and relocation is not available for this position; the successful candidate will be a current resident in the Houston metro area.
  
  

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the work of a total of 5 employees, both in the Houston Yard as well as mobile mechanics that visit jobsites to repair equipment. This will require a TWIC card, the ability to pass a background check, and attend HASC for training requirements to enter facilities. It will also require a valid Driver's License to drive a company truck.

General Job Description

This position is responsible for exercising independent judgment and supervising / directing a group of workers engaged chiefly in one occupation. Non-exempt role; Reports to the Manager of the Houston Crane Yard. Develops procedures for performance of direct-report employees / performs complex duties within established guidelines.

Qualification Standards

• High school or equivalent
• Masterful gasoline and diesel engine knowledge
• Ability to diagnose and repair equipment
• Organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize work tasks for multiple employees and follow up to ensure completion
• ASME certified preferred
• Technical training and/or industrial related safety experience
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
• Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others at the workplace
