Turner's Outdoorsman is seeking a Senior Compliance Lead to join the team! The Senior Compliance Lead is crucial for maintaining Turner’s compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies. They develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs, conduct audits, provide advice, and serve as the main contact for compliance questions. This role champions a culture of ethical conduct and accountability, demonstrating integrity and diligence while excelling in communication and problem-solving. The Senior Compliance Lead inspires and educates the team to foster a compliant and ethical workplace.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversees a team of non-exempt Compliance employees and manages compliance operations.
- Answer phone calls and emails from stores regarding compliance questions.
- Updates computer A&D as directed by IT.
- Assist with law enforcement investigation requests and subpoenas.
- Facilitates incoming and outgoing FFL Transfers.
- Works with Ecom outbound FFL Transfers for sold guns.
- Apply for and maintains Federal, State, Local Firearm Licenses.
- Review COE, DES for active employee, DROS Permissions, updated passwords, etc.
- File Stolen and Missing in Transit reports.
- Assist with monthly store and/or DC physical gun counts.
- Assist at special events/sales.
- Ensure training for all levels, from Store Manager to hourly staff, on compliance processes and standards.
- Partners with District Managers on store specific remedial training.
- Partners with District Managers and Executive Staff on operations changes leading to more accuracy and efficiency.
- Provide assistances as necessary to audit Gun PPW Packets for adherence to Federal, State, and Local standards.
- Help with data entry by compiling a list of compliance corrections, as needed.
- Support the review of the A&D Exceptions Report by updating any missing or incorrect entries.
- Aid in completing ATF Firearm Trace Requests within a single business day.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
- Legally eligible to work in a firearms environment – DOJ Certificate of Eligibility Required.
- A minimum of 2 years of previous retail and Compliance experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity, preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction.
- Proficient in reading and analyzing reports, as well as writing reports and business correspondence.
- Capable of identifying problems, gathering data, establishing facts, and drawing sound conclusions.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately adhering to auditing schedules.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be proficient in Celerant.
- Must be able to operate at an above basics level in Excel, Word and Adobe Acrobat.
- Must be able to operate with various scheduling, videoconferencing and other planning software such as Outlook, Teams, Zoom, etc.
- Must be detail oriented, organized, and possess the ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Willing and able to take on new tasks or additional responsibilities
- Manage subordinate employees.
- Operate with minimal direct supervision and propose or initiate process improvements.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Proficiency in English is essential.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Must be able to use both hands when handling a firearm.
- Must be able to use a computer proficiently.
- Must be able to stand, sit, bend and lift throughout the course of a scheduled shift
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Occasional travel is required (approximately 20% of the time-participating in sales events, consumer shows, shooting events, in-store auditing, or opening new store locations)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work environment primarily takes place in an office setting.
HOURS:
- Hours - at least 40 hours per week are required.
