Recovery Coaching Overview
As a Recovery Coach, you will use motivational interviewing and resource provision to guide participants through any stage of recovery, focusing on what recovery looks like for them. As a Recovery Coach, you will listen and support participants on their recovery path.
As employees of Turning Point Center of Addison County, Recovery Coaches provide direct service for those in recovery and family members of those in recovery from a substance use disorder or from any addictive behavior. Peer Recovery Coaches take about 4-6 weeks to be onboarded at the Turning Point Center of Addison County. This includes attending the one-week Recovery Coach Academy if you have not already done so, attending bi-weekly, one-hour meetings, as well as two weekly one-hour Supervision meetings, and interacting with staff and participants. Once this is completed, Recovery Coaches become per diem employees as they take on participants and continue to go to weekly and bi-weekly meetings.
Essential Job Responsibilities
· Provide direct service to individuals who are in recovery from a substance use disorder or addictive behavior, are in active use, and/or are community or family members of individuals with a substance use disorder or addictive behavior.
· Provide education on harm reduction and safe use as appropriate.
· Assist individuals to identify and develop natural community support in order to foster independence and community integration.
· Contribute to a safe, welcoming atmosphere at the recovery center.
· Promote support services offered at your recovery center with local community partners.
· Maintain collaborative relationships with local treatment teams and other agencies and organizations throughout Vermont to assist participants with treatment needs.
· Model and exemplify recovery principles in order to show by example that recovery is possible and attainable, as well as utilize personal and professional experience to promote wellness and recovery.
· Abide by HIPPA, 42CFR, and any additional rules, regulations, and ethical standards set forth by your recovery center.
· Engage in ongoing professional and personal development opportunities
Required Experience
· You must meet the abstinence requirement of 2 years of continuous recovery, or otherwise demonstrate your stability in recovery.
· Experience with or educational background around recovery concepts and practices of recovery that honor any pathway to recovery and harm reduction principles.
· Organized, self-motivated, creative, and committed to working in a diverse environment.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable working with all levels of professionals.
· Any chosen candidates will be required to attend the Recovery Coach Academy and other preparatory work, including weekly Supervision sessions, bi-weekly staff meetings, and spending time onsite at Turning Point Center of Addison County.
Desired Skills and Experience
· Preferred Recovery Center affiliation/experience
· Understanding of the addiction process, available treatment programs, healthcare options, social service systems, and medical systems.
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe, email, as well as the ability and willingness to learn and use case management/data input platforms (we’re willing to train!)

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
