JOB DESCRIPTION:
Sober Living House Manager
A Sober Living House Manager is responsible for the overall operation of a sober living facility, ensuring residents adhere to house rules, maintaining a safe and supportive environment, providing guidance and coaching to residents in their recovery journey, and managing daily tasks like scheduling chores, addressing resident concerns, and coordinating with outside treatment providers; requiring experience with substance abuse recovery and strong leadership skills to facilitate a positive living environment for residents in early recovery highly preferred. Willingness to reside at Sober Living House is a huge plus.
Key responsibilities of a sober living house manager:
- Resident Management:
- Observe clients and monitor for any substance abuse relapse challenges.
- Enforce house rules and policies regarding substance abstinence, curfews, and chores.
- Monitor resident behavior and intervene in case of conflicts or crisis situations.
- Facilitate weekly house meetings to address resident concerns and provide feedback.
- Conduct random drug tests as required.
- Support and Coaching:
- Provide individual support and guidance to residents navigating recovery.
- Encourage participation in 12-step meetings and other recovery support groups
- Assist residents in developing coping mechanisms and life skills
- Operational Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the sober living house, including maintenance and cleanliness.
- Manage resident finances, including rent collection and bill payments
- Coordinate with outside service providers like therapists, case managers, and medical professionals
- Maintain accurate documentation of resident progress, incidents, and interventions
- Safety and Security:
- Ensure the safety and security of the house by monitoring resident activity and addressing potential risks
- Implement security protocols to prevent unauthorized access to the property
- Respond to emergencies and coordinate necessary assistance
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Personal Experience: A personal history of overcoming substance abuse is often preferred
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with residents, staff, and outside providers
- Leadership Abilities: Capacity to lead and guide residents while upholding house rules and creating a positive community
- Crisis Intervention Skills: Ability to de-escalate situations and respond appropriately to crises
- Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of relevant regulations and licensing requirements for sober living facilities
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Diploma, or minimum of GED
· Must have (2) or more years of sustained recovery from a substance use disorder
· Willingness to obtain additional education including Ohio Peer Supporter training
· Basic First Aid, CPF, Mental Health First Aid, and drug testing procedures
· Must be able to live in a shared living situation with other men
· Must have minor house maintenance/repair skills
· Basic computer and keyboarding skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel)
· Knowledge of community resources
· Requires maintaining a visible presence in the Recovery Residence, prefer living in home
· Current Driver’s License
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 28 – 35 per week
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- After school
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends only
