Position Title: Camp Instructor, Seasonal
Reports To: Chief Operations Officer & Education Coordinator
Department: Education
Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY
Under the supervision of Chief Operations Office and Education Coordinator, the Camp Instructor will assist with planning, coordinating, and leading activities for Discovery Camps.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Interact in a positive and educational way with all guests including campers, parents and siblings of campers, and general Park guests.
- Engage in creative, age-appropriate, and responsibly managed activities with campers and guests.
- Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
- Inform Education Coordinator and other camp staff if any emergencies arise.
- Assist with preparation and break-down of facilities and materials used in programs.
- Abide by all Turtle Bay policies and procedures, including safety protocol and wearing the appropriate uniform.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High School graduate or GED required with 1 to 2 years coursework toward an undergraduate degree preferred.
- Must have education experience in a classroom, camp or other educational setting.
- CPR and First Aid Certification are encouraged.
- Must be available June 3 – August 8, 2025.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Positive attitude and a genuine enthusiasm for working with children.
- Knowledge of natural science, engineering, environmental studies, and/or related subjects.
- Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time in extreme weather conditions.
- Candidates should be enthusiastic, creative, and self-motivated. This position requires considerable flexibility and patience. Candidates must also be able to work well both independently and cooperatively in a positive, team-oriented environment (which could include adult and teen volunteers and other staff).
