Job Summary
The Assistant Softball Coach assists the Head Softball Coach with all facets of the program; to include organization, development, and leadership of a highly competitive Division II softball program in support of the mission and core values of Tuskegee University.
Essential Job Duties
- Assist the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the sport
- Organize and direct individuals and small group practices and exercises as directed
- Maintain current knowledge and adhere to all college, NCAA and conference rules and regulations
- Assist with recruitment of qualified student-athletes
- Demonstrate effective teaching/coaching methods and possess excellent leadership skills
- Assist with games and practice preparations and planning
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
- Three or more years of coaching experience at a high school or collegiate level
- Must have knowledge o of NCAA rules and regulations
Physical Demands
- May involve frequent bending, moving, lifting and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Requires standing for at least 4 hours each day and working in all weather conditions
- Exposure to high noise levels
- Additional physicals demand includes, but not limited to physical involvement in all practices and workouts with players
Skills and Attributes
Knowledge of:
- NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to the recruitment and retention of student-athletes
- Individual and team skills with the ability to teach these skills
Skills:
- Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills
Ability to:
- Travel extensively
