DESCRIPTION

The Proposal Writer produces professionally written, customer-focused, persuasive proposal content within a dynamic, deadline-driven business environment. This individual is responsible for translating technical approaches and win strategies into high-quality content that aligns with the client's requirements, terminology, and expectations. This positions requires someone who is an exceptional writer and communicator with the ability to create proposal content by first understanding and outlining client requirements and then interviewing subject matter experts to draft original content or tailor existing materials to ensure content is compliant, accurate, and promotes competitive differentials and advantages of Tutor Perini and our subsidiaries. This position will also take an active role in evolving the overall Tutor Perini narrative by working with other marketing and communication staff to develop marketing pieces, internal communications, social media content, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering and narrative developmentAssist Business Development and Marketing staff in analyzing specific customer needs and issues, and develop a compliant, customer-focused strategy for proposal responsesWrite and edit persuasive, accurate proposal content including executive summaries, past performance / experience sections, resumes, functional / discipline-specific technical sections, etc. in coordination with subject matter expertsIdentify and re-work existing pre-written content where relevantReconcile and incorporate comments on draft contentSupervise the work of all resources assigned to writing proposal sections, including coaching on the proposal process, disseminating the strategy and goals, and overseeing progress and quality of work through frequent reviewsMaintain strong working relationships with management and operations staff to ensure proposal input is accurate, compelling and timelyDevelop boilerplates for commonly requested information for use across all Tutor Perini companiesTranslate technical information into clear, readable narratives for a non-technical audienceCoach the wider organization in writing best practicesDevelop content for project award submittalsAssist with writing of non-technical marketing deliverables, advertisements, website narratives, Intranet posts, social media content, etc.Provide CRM data entry of developed contentCreate and edit internal communication piecesREQUIREMENTS :

Minimum 5 years of experience in proposal writing preparing RFQ / RFP / Bid responses at an AEC or similar industry firmOperations experience in the AEC industry preferredBachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or similar fieldSuperior technical writing and editing abilitiesKnowledge of editorial practices and standardsExperience in developing highly complex, written content including proposals, qualification documents, and customer presentations based on industry proposal standardsAdvanced skills in Word; Experience with InDesign a plusUnderstanding of the construction industry and terminologyAbility to multi-task, be proactive, establish priorities and work independently or in teamsAbility to effectively lead and / or work / collaborate with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams of management, operations and proposal personnel across multiple Tutor Perini companiesAbility to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment that may sometimes include nights and weekendsOccasional travel to offices, jobsites, events, and company meetings

Expected salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 depending on experience.
