Reporting directly to the President, you will oversee the accounting team, manage day-to-day financial activities, lead the month-end close process, and provide strategic financial insights to support the company’s growth.
The role is not just a review-and-sign-off type of position. It requires someone who can get into the details, manage the accounting team, and lead processes directly. As such, you must be highly proficient in MS Excel and SAP (or similar ERP) and possess a strong understanding of manufacturing-related accounting processes. Day-to-Day as Controller:
- Lead and manage the accounting team in daily department processes, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
- Track inventory management, including daily cycle counts and performing inventory reconciliations.
- Work extensively in SAP ERP and MS Excel to perform day-to-day accounting functions.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Develop annual budgets and forecasts and monitor variances to support strategic planning.
- Perform detailed and accurate financial modeling for 30-60-90 days and CapEx analysis.
- Document and formalize accounting workflows.
- Optimize existing accounting operations, systems, and software tools for efficient accounting, financial reporting, and future growth.
- Interface with the bank to present monthly financials and ensure compliance with loan covenants.
What You Bring as Controller:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
- Accounting leadership experience with expertise in inventory control and cost accounting including daily cycle counts, reconciliations, tracking thousands of SKUs and analyzing purchase price variances.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, with the ability to analyze data, create reports, and automate tasks.
- Proficiency in SAP ERP or similar, with the ability to understand financial data flows and identify anomalies and discrepancies.
- Previous experience managing the audit process with an understanding of GAAP compliance.
- Proven experience executing the month-end close process within departmental deadlines.
- Excellent verbal & written communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and self-accountability.
- Willingness to work on-site in Carson, CA.
Our client offers a competitive base salary of $170K - $250K annually, a performance bonus, and comprehensive benefits including health insurance, a retirement plan and PTO.
