SUMMARY

The Quality Control Inspector conducts, reviews and reports on quality testing specified by the project quality control manual and project plan. They may assist with quality plan, preparation, and evaluation of procedures, design changes, and reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Auditing of self-performed work or work performed by subcontractors, performance of specific inspections and tests, and audit report preparation.
  • Conducts materials testing and analysis, using tools and equipment and applying technical knowledge necessary to conduct tests.
  • Prepares reports detailing tests conducted and results.
  • Based on test results may recommend changes in materials or procedures.
  • Proactively reviews plans to ensure the materials and procedures will pass quality testing.
  • Ability to master AISC Erector standards and conduct annual audits.
  • Review project contract documents per established quality procedures.
  • Ability to obtain a welders VT certificate from Hobart. Ability to acquire ACI certifications up to and including ACI- Concrete Construction Special Inspector.
  • Arrange and facilitate pre-construction meetings and pre-install meetings with owner, architect, engineer, subcontractors, other prime contractors and other personnel key to the success of the project.
  • Ensure all company, client, and project policies, procedures, standards, etc. are adhered to.
  • Establish project objectives and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy.
  • Monitor vendor performance and if necessary, perform site inspections to verify products at vendor location.
  • Ensure that plans and specifications are properly maintained and updated. Ensure that project superintendent maintains and updates as-built drawings.
  • Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Inspect work performed to ensure quality craftsmanship.
  • Work with safety director to ensure a safe work site for all personnel.
  • Coordinate with project superintendent activities required of government regulatory agencies.
  • Undertake all actions required to complete job closeout requirements.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree (B. A/B. S.) from four-year college or university in a construction related field and five years related experience, or eight years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Working knowledge in all construction disciplines, Civil, Structural, and Welding required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret plans and specifications, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must have a familiarity with computers and a working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software, preferably with Microsoft Word and Excel.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver's license. (The ability to drive between job sites and/or meetings is an essential part of the job and may hinder job performance if unable to drive.)

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
