Scope of Work:
The job responsibilities for this role include conducting daily inspections and audits of utility assets, which require constant moving from asset to asset through and across various terrains. This includes rural and metro areas throughout the United States. Technicians are expected to collect data on various forms of auditing and surveying tools. The role also requires daily data uploads containing the pertinent data attained during the auditing process. Important to note Field Techs will often be required to communicate with bystanders and residents offering explanation of the tasks being performed and to gain access to the assets to be inspected. Note: This position will be located in and around the Goshen Indiana area.
Job Responsibilities:
- Uses specialized GPS equipment to report position and record data in company software.
- Completes assigned audits in accordance with the established safety protocols.
- Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to clearly describe work performed.
- Maintain all assigned Company field equipment in proper working order.
- Follow the assigned scope playbook timely, accurately, completely, and effectively utilizes the latest surveying technology and equipment to complete all types of land surveying fieldwork.
- Coordinates and communicates field work with surveying and engineering office personnel.
- Maintains field books providing detailed notes and drawings.
- Complies with established company work rules, policies, schedules, and procedures.
- Actively engages with other members of the company to continuously strive to improve processes, create efficiencies, reduce costs, and increase profitability.
- Cooperatively takes on other duties, roles, or responsibilities, as assigned.
Training:
Extensive office-based & field-based training before field deployment includes, but not limited to:
- Systems and equipment utilized for completing the inspections,
- Utility safety and situational awareness,
- Team operations and tasks,
- Inspection methodologies and damage identification.
Expectations:
- Inspectors are required to work outside in all types of weather conditions that include extreme heat in the summer and cold weather in the winter if conditions are not deemed hazardous to the employee.
- Candidates must have the ability to kneel, crouch, and bend throughout the duration of their shift.
- Candidates are expected to be able to walk 5-10 miles per day.
- Some projects will require the use of tools that weigh up to 20lbs.
- Driving is a requirement and candidates will be required to have a valid driver's license.
- Candidate must demonstrate the ability to operate a vehicle in a safe manner and be capable of reading and using maps.
- Candidates may be required to drive long or short distances in various conditions daily.

Education and Experience:

Physical Requirements:
- Frequent entering and exiting of a vehicle.
- Working outdoors year-round in all seasons and weather environments.
- Must be able to handle and utilize various machinery and equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
Salary Range: $20 to $24/hr commensurate with experience
