Job Overview: As a Front-of-House (FOH) Captain, you play a critical role in delivering exceptional service to our guests while overseeing the daily operations of the front-of-house team. You are responsible for ensuring a smooth, efficient, and welcoming dining experience, managing guest interactions, guiding servers, and coordinating with other team members to ensure every aspect of the service meets the highest standards. Captain will be included in the pool tip as they will service guest.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guest Service Leadership: Provide a positive, professional, and welcoming experience for guests from the moment they arrive until their departure. Ensure that guests’ needs are met in a timely, efficient, and friendly manner.
  • Team Supervision: Lead the front-of-house staff, providing guidance, training, and support to servers and support staff to ensure high service standards and team morale.
  • Table Management: Oversee guest seating, coordinate reservations, and manage table assignments to ensure a smooth flow of service during busy periods.
  • Order Accuracy & Coordination: Ensure that all guest orders are taken and processed accurately and efficiently, coordinating with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely and correct delivery of food and drinks.
  • Handling Guest Concerns: Address guest complaints or special requests promptly, ensuring their satisfaction and resolving issues with professionalism and care.
  • Service Quality Control: Monitor the performance of servers, ensuring consistency in service quality and adherence to restaurant standards. Assist in ensuring that the dining room is clean, organized, and ready for guests at all times.
  • Training & Mentorship: Provide on-the-job training for new servers and support staff, and offer continuous feedback and coaching to existing team members to ensure skill development and adherence to service standards.
  • Operation Collaboration (Management, Chef, BOH): Foster effective communication and teamwork between the front and back of the house to ensure smooth service delivery, proper timing, and guest satisfaction.
  • Event Support: Assist with coordinating private parties, special events, or large group bookings, ensuring all details are managed and executed seamlessly.

 

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities with a focus on creating positive guest experiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in POS systems, order processing, and front-of-house procedures.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and motivate staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.
  • Knowledge of food, wine, and beverage offerings and the ability to make recommendations based on guest preferences.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and carry trays for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, including trays of food and beverage.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing peak service hours.

 

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a busy, high-energy restaurant setting, requiring constant movement and customer interaction.
  • Flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, are required to meet the needs of the business.
