Job Title: Process Improvement Specialist – Boat Manufacturing
Location: Twin Vee Powercats Manufacturing Facility, Fort Pierce, Florida , Full time
Reports To: President and Vice President
Position Overview:
The Process Improvement Specialist will evaluate and optimize the manufacturing processes at our boat production facility. This includes all aspects of boat building, from lamination and cutting/grinding to assembly, rigging, and quality control. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in marine boat building and a deep understanding of manufacturing operations. This position requires an individual who can analyze complex processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement solutions to improve productivity, quality, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate Current Processes: Conduct thorough assessments of all stages of the boat manufacturing process (lamination, cut/grind, finish, assembly, rigging, and quality control).
- Identify Inefficiencies: Work with factory teams to identify bottlenecks, delays, and areas where costs or resources could be better managed.
- Collaborate with Leadership: Meet with senior leadership to present findings and discuss recommendations for process improvements. Develop actionable strategies for optimization.
- Implement Best Practices: Work with teams to implement new processes, tools, and techniques that enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
- Develop Training Programs: Design and facilitate training for staff on new processes, equipment, and methodologies.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives for continuous improvement, focusing on lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
- Monitor and Track Progress: Create KPIs and performance metrics to track the success of implemented changes and ensure sustained improvements.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all process improvements align with safety standards and regulatory compliance in the boat building industry.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in marine boat building or a related manufacturing field. Hands-on experience in at least one of the key boat building areas (lamination, cut/grind, assembly, rigging, or quality control) is essential.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of boat building processes and materials, particularly in the offshore sport boat sector.
- Process Improvement Expertise: Proven track record in identifying inefficiencies and implementing process improvements in a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Collaboration: Strong ability to work cross-functionally with various teams, including production staff, leadership, and engineering teams.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex processes and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present findings and recommendations clearly to senior management and factory personnel.
- Education: A background in engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required. Experience and expertise in marine manufacturing are more critical.
