Research Associate II (Biochemistry)
Twist Bioscience’s Data Storage group is developing new ways to store digital data in DNA. We are seeking a Research Associate (RA) who will be involved in improving the company’s proprietary semiconductor-based DNA synthesis. The position will support protein engineering and reagent development as well as on-chip DNA synthesis This is a full-time bench position. The RA will work closely with scientists and engineers to provide support for planning and execution of experiments.
Responsibilities:
- Protein engineering:
Execution of automated high throughput workflows to engineer enzymes - Enzyme activity assays
- Binding affinity studies
- Library screening and data analysis
- Protein purification and quantification
Chemistry:
- Development and QC of DNA synthesis reagents
- QC and stability study of various reagents and buffers using HPLC, LC-MS and
other related instruments - On-Chip DNA synthesis
- Perform DNA synthesis on automated instrument platform
Key Responsibilities:
- BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related field
- 2 years of industry experience at pharma, biotech, or related companies
- Experience with protein engineering and molecular biology
- Familiarity with automated liquid handling systems
- Experience with UV-Vis and Fluorescence spectrometers, HPLC, and LC-MS analysis
- Ability to work seamlessly with other team members in a dynamic and fast-paced
environment - Ability and interest to learn new techniques and willingness to contribute to the overall success of the project
- Ability to stand for long durations, lift 40 lbs., and operate instruments requiring fine
dexterity
