Senior Staff Platform Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Staff Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Java and Python development patterns, particularly in the context of e-commerce. This role also requires substantial experience with integration platforms such as MuleSoft or Workato, and a proven ability to architect and implement seamless systems integration solutions. Familiarity with asynchronous and real-time communication patterns is essential. As a Senior Staff Platform Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our technology strategy and leading the delivery of complex, enterprise-grade projects.

Key Responsibilities

System Architecture Design

- Design and develop scalable, robust platform layers (SDKs, frameworks) aligned with system architecture principles.
- Ensure architectural integrity and consistency across projects while enhancing platform capabilities for expedited root cause analysis (RCA) and project delivery.
- Conduct design reviews and audits to identify potential areas for improvement.

Software Development

- Develop high-quality software solutions using Java and Python, adhering to established e-commerce software patterns.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code that meets best practices and organizational standards.
- Implement and maintain APIs to enable seamless system integration and enhance service-oriented architecture.
- Ensure adherence to SDLC and CI/CD best practices, coaching teams to excel in service-oriented design.

Systems Integration

- Lead the integration of diverse systems and applications, leveraging tools like MuleSoft or Workato to ensure seamless communication and data flow.
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues promptly.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive successful implementation of integration platforms.

API Design and Development

- Design, develop, and maintain APIs to support new and existing features, ensuring they are secure, reliable, and scalable.
- Provide comprehensive API documentation and mentorship to developers.
- Configure API gateways using DevOps tools integrated with Kubernetes, enabling teams to manage configurations independently.

Asynchronous and Real-Time Communication Patterns

- Develop systems leveraging asynchronous (event-driven) and real-time communication patterns to meet business requirements.
- Advise on when to apply async versus real-time approaches to achieve optimal system performance and scalability.
- Mentor teams on best practices for implementing these patterns.

Mentorship and Leadership

- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
- Lead technical discussions and serve as a subject matter expert for engineering teams.
- Contribute to the technical strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals.

Required Qualifications

- **15 years** of industry experience in software engineering or related fields.
- Extensive experience in **system architecture**, **API design**, and **systems integration**.
- Proficiency in **Java** and **Python**.
- Hands-on experience with **integration platforms** such as **MuleSoft** or **Workato**.
- Familiarity with **asynchronous** and **real-time communication patterns**.
- Deep understanding of **DevOps tools**, **practices**, and **patterns**.
- Familiarity with various database technologies such as **Cassandra** and **PostgreSQL**.
- Proven leadership, mentorship, and excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with cloud platforms like **AWS**, **Azure**, or **Google Cloud**.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization technologies like **Docker** and **Kubernetes**.
- Advanced understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
