Job Summary : The Bilingual Senior Resident Services Coordinator provides services to a diverse group of older adults including formerly homeless seniors and those with various mental health and substance use histories, living in a 94-unit senior supportive housing site in San Francisco’s Mission District, where 30% of the population is monolingual Cantonese speaking. This position works within a trauma-informed care model utilizing best practices and recognizes the impact of the social environment and the importance of community to improve an individuals’ quality of life. This position is responsible for planning and coordinating on-going onsite programming including health and wellness, aging-in-place, education, cultural events, community organizing, and community building and engagement; provides information and referral helping residents in need of higher care coordination including APS, and clinical support; utilizes clinical techniques such as de-escalation and motivational interviewing; develops new relationships and partnerships with outside service providers to bring new ideas, resources to our residents; and supports residents around housing stabilization needs.Status : Full-time, Nonexempt, RegularLocation : Mission neighborhood, San FranciscoHours : Monday through Friday 9 : 00 a.m. – 5 : 30 p.m., occasional evenings and weekendsSalary : $30.26 - $31.85 per hour; Comprehensive BenefitsSchedule : Weekly Schedule. We encourage people of color to apply.Essential FunctionsOffer on-going supportive services to residents including light case management, information and referral, housing stability assistance, leading coordination with Property Management and other third party providersCollaborate with onsite staff, other CCDC departments, and city fundersOrganize, set-up, implement, and evaluate activities including larger community events focusing on cross-cultural community buildingCreate and implement programming at the property with a focus on aging-in-place, health & wellness, and educational workshopsBuild, maintain, and monitor relationships with social service agencies that focus on aging and health to bring additional programming to the propertyProvide technical assistance, staffing support and translation services to all resident groupsSupport residents facing housing stability issues including applying for rental assistance.Work on other resident services projects that come up throughout the year such as an Inter-Property field trip, food programs (Meals on Wheels, food box program, food drives, food pantries, etc.), and greening activitiesField resident questions on operational protocols and procedures and issues including Property Management policies and procedures, rent, work orders, payment plans, reasonable accommodations, critical incidents and general coordination of Property Management meetings and communication.Order and physically shop for and purchase program suppliesAdminister and manage resident rooftop gardenGather, track and provide information for city mandated reportingJob ResponsibilitiesCase Management / Information and Referral / Housing Education : Orient new residents to Resident Services, working with them to identify services / benefits that best fit their needsProvide direct services such as information and referrals, and translation / interpretation assistance to an increasingly higher needs populationWork with the Clinical Director to assess residents in need of more clinical support, referring them to the in-house Wellness Team or Interdisciplinary Care Team when applicable.Develop on-going cooperative network of government and social service agenciesServe as an advocate and liaison for residents with service agencies and / or property managementWork in partnership with residents on their rights and responsibilities as tenantsResident Community Building : Plan, develop, coordinate, and lead on-site and off-site educational, social, and recreational activities that may include, but are not limited to, the following : health and aging, safety, and nutrition workshops; holiday celebrations; outings; voter education; disaster preparedness workshops; and fire drillsProvide mediation between residents when neededSupport resident leadership and empowerment through resident volunteerism or existing resident groupsWork with property staff and residents to develop and implement activities and systems that promote safety and securityEducate and / or link residents to community / neighborhood projects that impact their quality of lifeCollaborate with Community Organizing and Planning on neighborhood issues that affect our residents; mobilize resident leaders to promote civic activism and advocacy around these community issuesAdministrative : Track resident services data in multiple databases on a regular basisComplete / maintain service reports, grant reports, activities budgets, program files, and other paperworkProvide information for and / or assist with writing grant applicationsConduct resident surveys to measure programsCreate monthly calendar of events and activities, and produce outreach flyersAssist Resident Services team and at organization eventsAttend meetings and trainingsOther : Represent organization to residents and community agenciesContribute to a safe and pleasant work environmentFollow policies and procedures, including safe work practicesOther duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and ExperienceAbility to work with people from ethnically and socio-economically diverse backgroundsSensitivity to issues facing elderly populationsAbility to facilitate group activities with challenging participantsCrisis de-escalation and resolution skillsMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field and two (2) years of experience in providing direct services in the form of information, referrals, and / or linkages to community and public resources to low-income populations and one (1) year of experience in developing, organizing, and implementing group activities, orHigh school diploma or GED and a combination of five (5) years of experience in providing direct services in the form of information, referrals, and / or linkages to community and public resources to low-income populations as well as experience in developing, organizing, and implementing group activitiesOne year of experience in developing, organizing, and implementing group activitiesOne year of experience working with older adultsExperience in program planning, facilitating meetings, and conducting trainingAbility to work effectively with culturally diverse populationsBilingual / biliterate in English / CantoneseKnowledge of, and sensitivity to, the needs of low-income peopleAbility to travel throughout San FranciscoPreferred Qualifications : Knowledge of public benefits and how to screen for benefits eligibilityExperience providing services to seniors and adults with substance use / mental health needsExperience working in a Permanent Supportive Housing environmentExperience working with on-site Property Management to promote housing stabilization / retention for low-income residentsExperience working within a Harm Reduction ModelFamiliarity with the resources available in the neighborhood and surrounding neighborhood of the work sitePrior experience measuring program outcomesPhysical Description : Able to work in an office most of the timeExposure to office electronic equipmentAble to work frequently / occasionally in poor weather conditions including heat, cold, rain or stormAble to work in all outside weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or storm on a basisAble to work with industrial cleaning chemicalsAble to frequently use the following equipment : computer, telephone, pen / pencil, stapler, copier, fax machine, file cabinetAble to travel to multiple CCDC buildings and community locations throughout San FranciscoAble to travel throughout a building, including elevators, stairs, and hallwaysAble to communicate clearly verbally and in writing#J-18808-Ljbffr
