Job Overview
The Milling Sweeper Driver will be responsible for operating a specialized street sweeper vehicle primarily on asphalt milling job sites and is responsible for cleaning up debris like broken pavement, asphalt millings, and dust generated during the milling process to ensure a clean and safe work area for the crew and traffic by sweeping the milled surface after each pass of the milling machine. The Sweeper Driver is also responsible for performing pre shift inspections, and general care and maintenance of the sweeper.
Responsibilities
- Operating the sweeper: Driving the street sweeper vehicle along the milled area, utilizing the brushes and vacuum system to collect debris.
- Maintaining cleanliness: Ensuring the job is clear of debris, including asphalt millings, dust, and broken pavement, after each milling pass.
- Pre-shift inspections: Performing routine checks on the sweeper's functionally, including fluid levels, brush conditions, and lights to identify any potential issues. Report any equipment issues to the supervisor/mechanic promptly.
- Safety Awareness: Adhering to the safety protocols on the job site, maintaining awareness of traffic flow, and communicating with other crew members.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used during each shift.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to thoroughly clean the milled surface and identify hazards.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license required; experience in truck driving is a plus.
- Prior experience operating a milling sweeper or other similar machinery like a street sweeper is beneficial.
- Experience with manual transmission vehicles is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in a similar role or related field is preferred
- Must be able to lift heavy loads and perform physical tasks associated with the job.
