Position Title: Tiki Boat Mate - Tybee Island Watersports
Position Offer:
Position Overview: Tybee Island Watersports is seeking a motivated and responsible Mate to assist in the operation of a 25-GT Tiki Boat. The Mate will work closely with the Captain to ensure the safe, efficient, and enjoyable experience for all passengers aboard the vessel. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to perform a variety of tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the boat.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Captain:
- Support the Captain in navigation, docking, and undocking of the vessel.
- Ensure adherence to all maritime safety regulations and company policies.
- Perform lookout duties to ensure safe passage through navigable waters.
Passenger Interaction:
- Greet passengers as they board, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
- Offer safety briefings to passengers, explaining emergency procedures and life jacket use.
- Address any passenger inquiries or concerns, ensuring their comfort and enjoyment during the trip.
Vessel Maintenance:
- Conduct regular checks and basic maintenance of the vessel, including cleanliness and equipment functionality.
- Assist with fueling, waste disposal, and provisioning of the vessel as needed.
- Report any mechanical or safety issues to the Captain or Operations Manager promptly.
Safety and Emergency Procedures:
- Assist in the execution of emergency drills and procedures.
- Monitor weather conditions and report changes to the Captain.
- Ensure that safety equipment, including life jackets, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits, are in good condition and readily accessible.
Operational Support:
- Assist with mooring lines and fenders during docking and departure.
- Handle the loading and unloading of passengers and supplies.
- Participate in regular training and drills to maintain a high level of readiness.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- CPR and First Aid certification is required within the first 30 days of employment.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and random drug testing by the Maritime Consortium.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work.
Working Conditions:
- This position requires work on the water in various weather conditions, including heat, wind, and rain.
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Seasonal availability will be required, including weekends and holidays.
Compensation:
- $15 Per hour
- Tips or Gratuities are customary in this industry.
