Job Summary:
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations, production, safety, and efficiency of a zinc recycling facility. This role involves managing staff, optimizing processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and achieving production targets while maintaining environmental and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plant Operations & Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the zinc recycling plant.
- Ensure efficient processing, refining, and recovery of zinc from scrap or secondary sources.
- Implement best practices to maximize productivity and minimize waste.
- Production Planning & Quality Control:
- Develop and execute production schedules to meet demand and quality standards.
- Monitor process parameters and product quality, ensuring adherence to specifications.
- Troubleshoot issues and optimize production processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:
- Enforce workplace safety standards and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Oversee waste management, emissions control, and environmental protection measures.
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and emergency response drills.
- Personnel Management:
- Lead and manage plant staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure employees follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
- Equipment Maintenance & Process Improvement:
- Oversee the maintenance of machinery, furnaces, and other recycling equipment.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to implement process enhancements and upgrades.
- Reduce downtime by implementing preventive maintenance programs.
- Budgeting & Cost Control:
- Develop and manage plant budgets, ensuring cost control and efficiency.
- Optimize resource utilization, including raw materials, energy, and manpower.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality and safety.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain records of production metrics, safety incidents, maintenance activities, and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare reports for senior management on plant performance, efficiency, and challenges.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 5 years of experience in plant management, preferably in metal recycling, smelting, or heavy industry.
- Experience in operational culture transformation, turnaround is a plus
- Strong knowledge of metal processing, refining, and recycling techniques.
- Familiarity with environmental, health, and safety regulations in the metal industry.
- Leadership and team management skills with a hands-on approach.
- Problem-solving, analytical thinking, and process optimization expertise.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, production tracking software, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Typically works in an industrial setting with exposure to high temperatures, noise, and hazardous materials.
- Requires wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as per safety regulations.
- Full-time role with potential overtime, weekend, or on-call responsibilities based on operational needs.
