Equipment Manager

Travis Club located in Austin, Texas is seeking to hire a highly motivated and experienced Golf Course Equipment Manager. Initial Priorities of Position:

• Become familiarized with the staff and grounds at Travis Club
• Create and implement a brand-new maintenance program from the ground up. 
• Coordinate the setup and organization of a new shop, ensuring efficient layout and streamlined operations.
• Train new employees on proper equipment use. 

Job Summary:

Under the leadership of the Director of Agronomy, the Equipment Manager will have responsibilities in functions related to the grow-in and day-to-day operations equipment of the golf course and associated practice facilities. This includes working in partnership with the Director of Agronomy and Assistant Golf Course Superintendent in management of the equipment relating to the course, common grounds, and building landscape areas for all Travis Club amenities.

During the grow-in and maturation phase of the project, the Equipment Manager, Director and Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will work together to establish daily operations for the maintenance team regarding equipment use and care. Their focus will be on training and development of employees in all facets of the equipment, build a comprehensive plan of preventative and routine equipment maintenance, and coordinate an equipment maintenance program reflecting the use on the course.

The Equipment Manager must represent Travis Club in the utmost professional manner and through their operations and actions reflect positively on the Club and Community.

Key responsibilities, skills, aptitude, and knowledge: 

Construction and Development

The Equipment Manager will collaborate directly with the Director of Agronomy and Assistant Golf Course Superintendent during the construction and development of the golf course and facilities by:

• Overseeing the layout and installation of all infrastructure within the golf maintenance compound.
• Responsible for all grow-in equipment.
• Establish
• Train, develop and motivate high quality, professional staff for maturation and grow-in operations which eventually will transition into the daily operations team.
• Develop and adhere to policies, procedures, and employee training and development.

Daily Operations

Collaborate with the Director of Agronomy to define, communicate and deliver on the approved strategic plan and operational standards for our golf course. 

• Ensure our course delivers on the Travis Club brand promise of high quality, championship-like course conditions daily.
• Establishes and operates a preventative maintenance program on all equipment, purchases repair parts and replacement supplies.
• Inspects, adjusts, diagnoses and repairs mechanical issues in all the golf course maintenance equipment.
• Establishes and adheres to a budget prepared with the Director Agronomy
• Places orders for parts and supplies as needed for equipment or service in accordance with the budget.
• Tracks Repairs and Maintenance through shared software program (TBD)
• Performs reel grinding and blade sharpening to ensure a high quality of cut.
• Can visually inspect the quality of cut in the field and adjust as needed.
• Knowledge of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems and mowing equipment maintenance such as grinding, sharpening and adjustment.
• Maintains skills for a wide variety of equipment repair tools and mechanical repairs.
• Diagnoses mechanical troubles and schedules appropriate preventative maintenance work.
• Organizes and maintains a clean and safe maintenance area.
• Assists in the management of department members
• Assists in the effective orientation and training of each new greenskeeper.

Education and Experience:

• 4-7 years of experience as an Equipment Manager
• Leadership and administrative experience 
• Ability to diagnose and repair 2-cycle, 4-cycle, and diesel engines
• Certification in automotive repair, diesel engine, or similar fields (preferred but not required)
