This is a 12-month, part-time position responsible to the Director, Learning Commons.Essential Functions and DutiesPrimary ResponsibilitiesProvide guidance to patrons on library resources, including online databases and research toolsAnswer questions related to library resources, policies, procedures, and workshopsProvide information regarding all departments housed in the buildingAssist patrons in checking out and returning library materialsCollect fines for overdue items or monies for damaged / lost materialsHelp maintain reserve materialsAnswer phone in a courteous and polite manner and take accurate messages as neededAssist with processing journals and magazinesComplete opening / closing duties of the building based on work scheduleProvide desk coverage and greet patrons in a friendly mannerShelve books and reorganize any that are out of orderCheck book drops for any returned booksMaintain confidentialityConduct an hourly headcount to maintain an accurate record of library attendanceSecondary Responsibilities
Assist with clerical tasks and maintain orderliness of workstationKeep supply areas tidy and organizedPerform hand-delivery of mail to other campus officesSupport department staff with special projects or events as neededAttend staff meetings and trainingsPerform light cleaning duties such as dusting, cleaning tables, pushing in chairs, throwing away trash, etc.Help maintain a quiet, respectful, and clean study environmentPromote Learning Commons student support servicesCompetencies
