A Student Assistant (SA) at TJC plays an important role in promoting the mission of the college. The student assistant in this position must be willing and able to report to an off-campus location in Tyler to perform various clerical tasks that aid in maintaining an organized workflow assisting with day to day programming to the public via Tyler Public Library.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Primary ResponsibilitiesHelping with the set up and the cleanup of children’s and adult programs and eventsHelping program and event attendees with activities such as crafts and gamesPassing out and picking up materials and supplies during programs and eventsCounting the number of program or event attendeesHelping with preparation for programs and events such as cutting, stapling, gluing, and copying materialsTidying play area and sanitizing toysOperating DVD player and projector to show movies to children visiting the library after schoolReading with children or adults as a reading buddyCOMPETENCIESKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesCollaboration/Teamwork, Customer Service, Interpersonal Skills, Multi-tasking, Organizational Skills, Problem-solving, Time ManagementWork Environment: Work required during and periodically outside of normal business hoursPhysical Demands: Sitting, walking, standing, liftingTravel Required: Yescandidate must have and maintain a current valid Texas driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
