What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping/Distribution/Receiving Coordinator position at Tyler Pipe and Coupling?
Job Description
Prepare, create, and distribute paperwork related to shipping products, including picking lists, packing slips, and Bills of Lading.
Possess knowledge of various shipping methods, including UPS parcel, LTL, customer pickups, and full truckloads.
Solve problems and adjust forms and documents as needed due to last-minute load changes. Close attention to detail is required, especially during data entry, to ensure line items are correctly placed in the software system. Use the system to locate, print, sort, and distribute picking lists to product assemblers.
Prepare packing slips, Bills of Lading, and associated labels once orders are completed. Dispatch incoming trucks and direct truck movement in the yard based on loading times and loader availability.
Communicate via radio with truck drivers, supervisors, and team members throughout the day to facilitate smooth operations.
Interact daily with customer service representatives regarding order shipment inquiries, shipment costs, projected ship dates, and backorders. Receive inbound products into the system.
Review and audit LTL freight bills for accuracy. Contact LTL carriers in cases of lost products or discrepancies to ensure proper credits are issued when required.
Plan daily truckload shipments to customers, considering load tonnage, customer location, expected delivery dates, number of stops on the route, and any special considerations from customer service.
Maintain and file shipping and receiving records according to document retention policies.
Work effectively in a sometimes pressure-filled environment.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area. Perform other miscellaneous duties as necessary and required.
Demonstrate a commitment to safety by wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering and working in the plant.
Complete other duties as assigned by the Distribution Manager.
