Under the direction of the Melt Manager, the Cupola Supervisor oversees the safe and efficient operation of the Cupola and Electric Furnace, ensuring the production of high-quality iron. The Cupola Supervisor will also supervise hourly team members engaged in the production of high-quality iron used to cast iron pipe on fittings.
Based on the founding principles of McWane in 1920, it is expected that all team members will know and exhibit the eight principles of The McWane Way : Safety, Environment, Leadership, Accountability, Excellence, Trust, Teamwork, and Communication as well as the values and behaviors supporting these principles.
Qualifications
Operational Management
- Ensure the safe operation of the Cupola and supervise team members during all phases of iron production.
- Monitor and record process parameters during Cupola operations, including chemistry, temperature, wind rate, and back pressure.
- Oversee the tapping of the Cupola during start-up and the bottom drop during shutdowns.
- Conduct periodic checks of tuyeres for water leakage or blockages.

Administrative Duties
Demonstrate a dedication to safety by wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering and working in the plant.
Keep work area clean, safe, and orderly.
C omplete other duties as assigned by Melt Manager.
