Your role in the mission:
Type One Energy are seeking a Quality Manager to play a critical role in ensuring that all processes, systems, and products meet the highest quality standards throughout the lifecycle of our stellarator fusion technologies.
The individual in this role will manage and oversee the company’s quality assurance and control programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, while maintaining a culture of continuous improvement.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Quality Management System aligned with ISO 9001 and other relevant standards. Ensure that the QMS effectively supports fusion energy project requirements.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines, including those set by government bodies and international organizations in the fusion and energy sectors.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives by applying root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventative measures. Collaborate with teams to enhance product quality, efficiency, and safety.
- Oversee the quality control processes for all stages of product development, from design and prototyping to manufacturing and testing. Ensure all products meet the required specifications and quality standards.
- Evaluate and monitor suppliers and vendors to ensure compliance with quality standards and performance expectations. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers to address quality issues promptly.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and reviews of internal processes, systems, and third-party vendors to ensure consistent quality. Document findings and implement corrective and preventive actions as needed.
- Prepare detailed quality reports, documentation, and metrics on quality performance for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies. Provide management with actionable insights to improve overall quality and operational effectiveness.
- Lead and mentor a team of quality engineers and inspectors. Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and collaboration within the team.
- Develop and deliver training programs to ensure employees are up-to-date on quality standards, methodologies, and tools. Promote awareness and understanding of quality control processes throughout the organization.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001) is preferred.
- 5 years of experience in quality management, preferably in the energy, nuclear, or engineering industries. Experience with fusion energy systems is a plus.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems (QMS), regulatory compliance, and standards such as ISO 9001, ASME, and IEC.
- Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies (e.g., SPC, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, CAPA).
- Experience with auditing and inspection processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
