Management Level :
This position will be responsible for supporting the Strategic Sourcing team in identifying, building out and executing on best-in-class Sourcing processes. This includes bringing forth improved buying processes, improving the way in which we utilize data to make decisions, driving alignment with Ops & Corporate stakeholders, and lastly, improving the Procurement concepts utilized that determine the best path forward for Tyson. This role will support both Indirect & Direct categories. Categories included : Packaging, Ingredients, MRO, Capital, Plant Services & Corporate Services.
It is expected that this individual will interact with & influence leadership within the procurement group by providing best in class sourcing concepts, processes, & ideas; and then supporting with the execution of those. This individual will also work with the stakeholders that Procurement supports to educate & keep them apprised of the work being done to improve our Procurement processes.
This role will report to the Vice President of Procurement and will work across all Strategic sourcing categories managed by procurement.
REQUIREMENTS :
Education : Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees or additional education preferable
Experience : 10 years of experience in Procurement within the manufacturing sector and / or Food sector. A broad business background across multiple business and operational disciplines is preferred.
Computer Skills : Standard computer skills, but with an ability to articulate opportunities by understanding data.
Supervisory : This individual currently will not have direct reports & will be focused on getting educated on current category strategies, identifying opportunities, & working to help implement.
Communications Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Presentation and ability to sell a plan will also be required.
Technical Skills : A deep understanding of Procurement processes and procedures is required along with a solid knowledge of the materials, ingredients, parts & services etc. that are sourced within the various Procurement Departments. Equally important is a solid understanding of the BUs operational aspects of the plant environment including plant sanitation general equipment knowledge and an overall understanding of plant and corporate processes.
Special Skills : Strong business and financial acumen, sound analytical skills, process improvement experience such as Six Sigma LEAN Continuous Improvement, ability to negotiate complex and challenging business circumstances and strong relationship management skills are necessary. Must be able to influence without positional authority. Must have excellent organizational communication and project management skills.
Travel : 8-12 domestic trips per year with very limited international travel required.
